Derek Fox writes book, music and lyrics. He received an MFA from NYU: was musical conductor, writer and arranger for Laurie Beechman. They recorded for Atlantic Records.
Derek now writes musicals for the stage. THE CHRYSANTHEMUM EFFECT, a show featuring a piano quintet, was performed at The Composers Chamber Theater at Square One, featuring Christina Morrell, Erinjean Jewell, Carolyn Cole and Kila Packett, with Andrew Dixon on piano and Peter Van Derick as musical conductor. “TORCH: A Cycle of Love Songs” was performed at the Laurie Beechman Theater in October 2010 by 2010 MAC Award Winner Best Jazz Vocalist MARY FOSTER CONKLIN, GENEVIEVE LECLERC, FOREST VAN DYKE & JOANNA HERNANDEZ; KRIS NOLTE on piano; costuming by Don Sayres.
Derek is currently working on a new show. He is a member of ASCAP.
