SATURNIIDAE, based on a fictional opera from the story “Coop” by Joseph O’Malley,
is a tale of love and loss in a land famous for its giant silk moths and the
luxurious fabrics produced from their cocoons.
Once a year, in a clearing in the forest on the night of the full moon,
when all of the lightening bugs are glowing and the moon lilies are in bloom,
the moths emerge and dance their sensual ballet for one week, then die.
Though they have no mouths, they sing.
